NEW STERIL-AIRE UVC KIT DESTROYS MICROORGANISMS INCLUDING FLU VIRUSES, BACTERIA AND MOLD

Delivers germicidal UVC to fan coils, unit ventilators and indoor air handlers

Burbank, Calif., - A new UVC Kit for Air Handlers from Steril-Aire, Inc. may be used in a wide range of HVAC applications to destroy microorganisms including flu viruses, bacteria and mold. The easy-to-install kit delivers Steril-Aire's proven UVC technology to fan coil units, unit ventilator systems and indoor air handlers with coils up to 84" (213.4 cm) with dual access.

It delivers energy savings on retrofit installations, maintains factory design efficiency on new units, and improves indoor air quality and infection control in all systems. Applications include air handlers serving patient rooms, classrooms, hotel/motel rooms, apartments and condominiums, and offices in commercial buildings and industrial plants.

A slim power supply and convenient mounting options allow installation flexibility close to the face of the coil for continuous coil cleaning and optimum air quality. The multi-patented high output UVC Emitter™ has been independently tested to deliver up to six times the output of other ultraviolet devices under HVAC conditions, for the longest service life and most reliable germicidal control. It kills or inactivates airborne microbial contaminants to greatly reduce the spread of infectious diseases and eliminate the major source of allergy and asthma discomfort. It also eliminates surface biofilm to keep coils and drain pans in a constantly clean state, saving money by reducing HVAC energy use and eliminating costly chemical cleanings.

The UVC Kit for Air Handlers includes a universal 120-230V power supply and three mounting options for easy installation in systems with different types of configurations. It comes with a choice of seven UVC Emitter lengths from 12" (30.5 cm) up to 42" (106.7 cm).

The global leader in UVC for HVAC™, Steril-Aire has a full line of UVC Emitters for HVAC systems as well as room air purifiers and specialty devices for use in all types of buildings and homes. AHRI Opposes House Energy Bill in Current Form

Chaos Would Result from Enactment
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) announced its opposition to H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES Act) in its current form. If the bill is passed into law, it would, among many other onerous provisions, eviscerate the federal preemption provisions of the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA) and the Energy Policy act of 1992 (EPACT). DOMETIC MARINE’S LINE OF AIR CONDITIONERS MEETS NEW PROTOCOLS FOR ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE REFRIGERANTS AHEAD OF DEADLINE

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Oct. 22, 2009 – Dometic Marine today announced all of its Cruisair and Marine Air products are now fully compliant with the environmental mandates set forth by the Montreal Protocols.

The company has now converted all of its products from R22, which is classed as an ozone-depleting substance, to alternative refrigerants that meet the international standards. The conversion from R22 was completed ahead of the 2010 deadline for compliance.

“We are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our products through regular assessment of energy and material demands, emissions, waste generation and recyclable resources,” said Frank Marciano, president of Dometic Marine. “Since the early 90s we have been at the forefront of developing products that use alternative refrigerants, starting with R134A, R404A and R409A. We have been using R407C and R417A for the last few years, and now R410A, all of which are compliant with the new mandates.”

Marciano noted that Dometic is using three environmentally safe refrigerants to replace R22 because the variety of products they offered to customers cannot be built today using only one refrigerant. For reengineered and new product designs, Dometic favors R410A because of its impressive thermodynamic properties.

For 2010, Dometic is introducing an entirely new line of reengineered split systems called the Emerald Series, designed from the ground up to run on R410A. In addition, the Turbo Series of self-contained units has been converted to R410A, as well as all of the other Cruisair and Marine Air chilled water systems.

“Optimizing for R410A required a redesign of our whole refrigerant system,” added Marciano. “Every part of the system had to be reevaluated – from the compressors and evaporators to the condenser coils to the entire manufacturing process.”

The physical properties of R407C are similar to R22 and are being utilized in some of the chiller products. R417A is also similar and can serve as a drop-in replacement so no reengineering is required. It is currently being used in some of Dometic’s direct expansion systems.
